Luke 2:21-24 [And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb. 22 And when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were accomplished, they brought him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord; 23 (As it is written in the law of the Lord, Every male that openeth the womb shall be called holy to the Lord;) 24 And to offer a sacrifice according to that which is said in the law of the Lord, A pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons.]
Mary and Joseph according to the law of Moses named the baby Jesus and had him circumcised when he was right days old, then thirty three days later they took him to the temple in Jerusalem to present him to the Lord.
Leviticus 12:13 [And in the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised.]
In the gospels of Matthew 19:13-15, Mark 10:13-16 and Luke 18:15-17 we see that the people accepted Jesus as the Son of God and they were presenting their children to God through Jesus.
And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked them that brought them. But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased and said unto them “Suffer the little children to come unto me and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Verily I say unto you, whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.”
And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them and blessed them.
In 1 Corinthians 7:14 we are taught that our children are considered holy because of a believing parent.
With this in mind we believe it we are in harmony with the will of our Heavenly Father when we present our children for His blessing.[Ask parents if they desire to present their child for God’s blessing]
